Dream BIG - SCS 490

Hey peeps.  How's everyone doing?  I have been away visiting family members and boy did I miss my stamp room.  It like I was going through withdrawal.  I had NO stamping or coloring items with me for 10 days.  Oh, the pain I went through.  LOL

Well I'm back and busy as ever.  Today's card I used the new sketch that's just been posted on Splitcoaststampers.  I love this pretty little layout. I just received some goodies from Papertrey Ink and some sparklin' new sequin so I was so excited to put this card together.

I want to point out one very cool item I used on this card.  I cut out one of the flag banners with Beinfang watercolor paper, ran it through my Xyron and then placed three rows of that fantastic ribbon from the Really Reasonable Ribbon monthly ribbon club to cover it.  I thought it was a great way to use my ribbon besides just making a bow with it.

Here's a closeup of my card.  I also watercolored that beautiful background stamp called Background Basics Venice from PTI.  I'm in love with this stamp.  As for the watercolor medium I used the Reeves water colour paint from Oriental Trading Company.  The sentiment is from Clear Expressions.  I heat embossed the sentiment and the background stamp with Hero Arts Silver embossing powder.

I'm off and running to make more magic in my stamproom.  I have some graduation cards I still need to make.  Can't let the graduates down!

SOG New Digi Release

Hey peeps.  Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for another fantastic digi release from Some Odd Girl.  Today's image is one of my favs so far. Meet the every talented Singer Kaylee!  She is belting out some tunes for you today.  LOL  Isn't she such a bad ass with that 80's inspired outfit on?  She is rocking on this card.

I colored her up with my Copic markers and even gave her a touch of lipstick and some hot pink eyeliner.  Come on now, you know you rocked that look in the 80's.  I know I did along with the matching nail polish and lipstick.  LOL  My gorgeous hot pink polka dot paper is from Ruby Rock-It.  It worked perfectly with my Copic colors for this card.  I added a touch of Wink of Stella on my image because everything looks better with a little sparkle! ;-)

Make sure you swing by the Some Odd Girl blog to check out all the other amazing creations the other DT ladies have to show you.  Come back and see me soon!

SC489 Sketch

Hey peeps.  Back with a second card for you today.  This is the sketch layout this week over at SCS.  Love it!!  The watercoloring class is over with but I wanted to show you one more card that I made.  Sooo how do you like it?  I'm really going to miss this class but the good part is I have lifetime access to all the videos and pdfs from the course.  This way I can go back and keep practicing and look at all the gorgeous cards the participants made.

I used my distressed ink pads and some water to create this circle background.  I heat embossed a background stamp first and them laid the color down.  Swoon....I love this technique.  But look at that gorgeous ribbon!  And I even stamped on it!  WHAT!?!?  LOL  That beautiful ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Don't you LOVE it?  I made my bow using the Zutter Bow-It-All.  I'm like bow crazy these days.  ;-)

I hope you find some time to play along in the sketch.  Make sure to load up your cards so we can ooohhhh and aaahhh over them in the gallery.

Get in Gear - Some Odd Girl

Hey peeps.  Time for a digi release at Some Odd Girl.  Here is another fantastic cut file from SOG.  This one is called Gears.  As soon as I saw this cut file I thought Father's Day for some reason.  I'm sure all father's at one time said "get your but in gear" to their teen age child.  I know I have heard it several times for my hubby.  LOL

Since the cut file fit nicely on the front of my card it was a snap to put together.  I placed the cut file on some adhesive paper and layered on some distressed glitter.  You can't really see it in the photo but in real life it's pretty awesome.

Now it's time to do what we do best...SHOP.  Head on over to the SOG store and pick up your new cut files.  And if you fancy load up your cart some with amazing digis to go with this cut file.

Hugs and love~

Out On A Limb

Hey peeps.  Welcome back.  I'm still at it in my stamp room plugging away at my homework assignments.  Today's card was super fun and easy to create.  Have I told you how much I love this watercoloring class?  :-)

Okay so this card was made just splattering color on your watercolor paper and watching it blend.  And if you aren't careful you will splatter your desk, your clothing, any nearby objects (like your camera). But in the end you have a remarkable masterpiece.  I used the Reeves Water Colour paint from Oriental Trading that I gave the review on last week to create these gorgeous colors.  All I had to do was free hand the trunk of the tree and viola, I had a beautiful and colorful tree.  The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn #Awesome stamp set.

I better get back to my homework.  I mean I don't want to be the "slacker" of the class.  I have a reputation to keep.  LOL   I hope you have a blessed Sunday and I'll see ya soon.

Hugs and love~

Floral Hello - Watercolor Style

Hey peeps.  Happy Friday.  Look you made it through another week.  Hot dang, you are on a roll!  I'm back with one of my homework cards for the watercoloring class I'm taking at Online Card Classes and giving my review of the Reeves Water Colour Paints from Oriental Trading Company. (please see disclosure below)

For this card the instruction was to lightly stamp an image and then watercolor over so it looked like the image was done free hand.  Well, I was a bit nervous to start but I think I pulled it off. Below is the watercolor medium I used.  I loved that this set comes with 24 colors.  They are very vibrant in color but can be watered down to a transparent finish.  They give you a smooth colour wash finish.  At first I was a tab bit worried that I would not be able to blend this product well since I'm not a professional at watercoloring but they were sooo easy to use.  I like that there is a tube of white in this set so you can tone down the color if you want.  I have worked with several watercolor mediums in the last few weeks and I can say that this set made the cut.  I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for fantastic color on your projects.

Here is a closeup of my card so you can really see how great this watercolor is.  I used just a hint of Wink of Stella over the image to add a little sparkle.  I don't think the camera picked it up too good but I assure you it's there.  LOL

Thanks for stopping by everyone.  Have a safe weekend and I hope to see ya back here soon.

Hugs and love~

Show Your Patriotic Side

Hey peeps.  I'm back with a card I made for the Really Reasonable Ribbon challenge.  First I have to say I love this ribbon pack from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I decided to join their monthly ribbon club and I'm loving all the ribbon that's hitting my mailbox.

I'm sure you have heard me say I like to sit around and color up images.  After they are colored I place them in a bin to make a card later.  Well, this little beauty worked perfect for today's card.  I don't remember the name of  this stamp (sorry) because I've had her colored up for some time now.  I used my Zutter Bow-It-All to make my bow on this card.  I LOVE how my bow came out.  I'm rather proud of it.  LOL

I gotta run as I have a few errands to run before I lose the rest of my day.  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see ya back here soon.

SCS Sketch #488

Happy hump day peeps!  You are halfway thru the week!!  Keep on trucking along and before you know it the weekend will be here.  LOL  I am a guest designer for May - June for the sketch team over at Splitcoaststampers.  I was so excited to be picked to join in on the fun.

Here is the sketch for this week.  I love this sketch as it give you a really big panel to get creative with.  Inside of using a stamp on this panel I decided to break out my Papertrey Ink die cut.  I really like this amazing die cut.  It gives me a ton of space to add any kind of sentiment.  This sentiment just happens to be from the Papertrey Ink Phrase Play #1 set.

The fabulous paper I used for my sketch is from Ruby Rock-It as well as that gorgeous butterfly.  I just had to give you a close up of pic of how pretty that butterfly is.  I splattered some watercolor on the paper and smeared out the sentiment with a little water as well.  I'm in  watercolor class right now so I'm adding it to just about everything I create.  LOL

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you'll come back and see me soon.

Hugs and love~

In a Field of Daisies - Some Odd Girl

Hey peeps.  I have been dieing to show you this new cut file from Some Odd Girl.  This is one of the release items for this week.  Isn't it prurty?  I have to say I'm in love with this Daisies cute file.  There are actually three files to this set and I'm sure you are going to LOVE them.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut these babies out and added some stickles to the center of each flower.  I watercolored the background to give it a washed out look.  I already popped this card into the mail for me Mom.  I think she's going to love it.

Make sure to swing by the SOG blog and check out all the other ladies cards.  You are going to be blown away.  I hope everyone has a fantastic week.  If you are looking for more inspiration, check out the Some Odd Girl Youtube channel.

I'm a Featured Artist!

I'm over the moon excited to share with you that I was chosen to be this months Featured Artist over at Cardmaking Artists.  When Tam Hess asked if I would like to be featured on her blog I was shocked.  I mean, I'm just little ole' Dana Joy.  I'm nobody big in the industry.  I keep thinking she must have the wrong Dana.  Well turns out she did want to feature ME!  LOL

I can't thank Tam enough for the honor of making me one of her outstanding Featured Artist.  So in that honor, I would like to present this card to Tam.  I know she is a huge watercoloring fan and how fitting to make her one of my watercolor cards from class.  You're definitely the best Tam!

Well gotta run, I'm still trying to play catchup on my homework.  But I will not complain.  This is the best homework EVER! :-)

Hugs and love~
